Coach Emily in the Workplace is an extension of my private coaching practice. In addition to the buzz in the industry about the importance of cultivating a positive culture, years of conversations with my private clients in the business world has clarified for me the importance of bringing this work into organizations. My clients often describe their workplace as having low moral, poor communication, strained relationships, low in productivity and high in stress. They often feel powerless to change anything because they don't believe that the company cares and are willing to do anything about it. Some companies try to lift the spirits of their employees with some sweet perks, and these are great. However, without addressing core issues of communication, leadership, individual health and wellness, change will be short lived and superficial. 

I look closely at the effectiveness and satisfaction of individual employees, at all levels and positions of your organization. I coach your employees to become their best selves and produce their best work. I coach them based on their unique personality and issues, guiding them through a process of personal discovery and development. I coach for advanced communication and leadership skills, conflict resolution, personal health, happiness and fun.

Communication is fundamental to creating a positive, healthy and highly productive work environment. Employee relationships greatly impacts individual and team performance. The most effective teams are made up of individuals who are confident, appreciate each other, have a strong sense of community and purpose, and know how to communicate with each other. Communication is primary, and as such, my goal is to coach individual members of your workplace to have responsible, powerful and purposeful communication skills. Poor communication is one of the biggest causes of workplace conflict.

Conflict resolution is often necessary for any organization. This isn't surprising given the various personalities attempting to work together. These conflicts can usually be resolved with little or no negative impact, as long as they are handled in a timely manner, with care and respect for everyone involved. We all remember times when we have clarified simple misunderstandings that were causing big problems. And times when a rather unpleasant conflict could have been avoided if more care was given to how we communicated. Or times when we have avoided giving feedback, when it was desperately needed. Trying to communicate when you are being attacked, blamed, or ignored is even harder. I work with individual employees to develop their ability to communicate clearly and effectively so conflicts are minimized and progress can continue.

What to do when communication breaks down and a conflict continues unresolved?

When communication breaks down and a conflict persists, my role as your coach includes mediating for a win-win resolution. I believe that conflicts, when addressed, create the opportunity to heal and grow individuals and communities. My goal as mediator, in addition to facilitating a speedy resolution to the problem, is to demonstrate the processes that are needed to resolve and avoid future conflict. As with all challenges, they can make us wiser and stronger.

Anyone who has worked in an organization is probably aware that it is not uncommon for the atmosphere in the office to feel a bit like a dysfunctional family. We are all human beings, and we all have our own unique personality and challenges to deal with. Many people are truly unaware how significant their impact is, both positive and negative. On the negative side, this can lead to frustrations for others, relationship conflicts, low moral and low productiviy. Unfortunately, most companies are not equipped to support their employees through these issues. It is not uncommon for problems to become bigger and messier before any action is attempted. I call this the "lose-lose paradigm" that erodes so many good companies and generates unmotivated and unsatisfied employees. Tension may increase, jobs may be lost and companies are left without their greatest asset: Highly motivated, satisfied and productive employees.

Employee Wellness

I take a holistic approach to health and wellness. This includes physical, psychological, emotional and, for some, spiritual health. 

The business world today knows that employee health and wellness greatly impacts attitude and ability to produce great work. Some companies have already picked up on this fact and have initiated wellness benefits and programs to support and nurture their employees. Current research shows that these programs are having a significant positive impact on the company bottom line. Coaching is currently regarded as being a one of the most effective and efficient methods of change, in both the personal and professional world. 

With the guidance of a caring and skilled coach, people are quickly learning how to set aside their personal obstacles (often deeply ingrained) and establish a healthy sustainable path towards becoming their best self, and your best employee.

In terms of physical health, we all know the bottom line: Nutrition and exercise. Part of my role as coach is to inspire your employees to take care of their body. Early in my career life I was a fitness instructor in various health resorts and gyms, and continue to teach dance for fitness. I bring my passion, commitment and knowledge of physical health and wellness to my coaching practice. 

Coaching for emotional health and wellness focuses on what is happening inside the mind. My role as your workplace coach is to teach your employees how to navigate their own inner terrain, heal wounds, change negative beliefs, and create a healthy inner world. We all have inner chatter, so learning how to create a healthy inner dialogue is key to being our best, producing our best and communicating our best.

I coach your employees to have the skills to set aside habitual criticism, develop healthy and truthful self-awareness, and deal with their personal issues that continue to disrupt their life and work. This means being able to honestly evaluate themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, with curiosity, compassion and truth. Together, we address and develop self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-respect and self-worth. The fundamental goal of personal growth is self-realization; a state of being where you know, on a truly deep level, that you matter, and you are living your life, personally and professionally, from that understanding and commitment. Leaders are pivotal to organizations and to directing positive change and outcome. Leaders set the tone of the workplace. I believe everyone can benefit from learning leadership skills, even if they are not in an actual position of leadership. Leadership is about having authority and influence, while inspiring independence and action. There is a great deal of confusion in the world about what makes a great leader. I believe that a great leader is someone who inspires and motivates others to bring their absolute best performance. I believe that a great leader creates an atmosphere of respect, gratitude and admiration for everyone in the group. Authority is a very powerful state of being that has a tendency to become either overstated or understated. I coach managers and executives to awaken a deeper understanding of the qualities, skills and responsibilities of truly effective leadership. I support them to step more fully into their role as a leader, who establishes and maintains a positive, productive, highly inspired and motivated environment.


As a Certified Professional Life Coach (CPCC, ICF), I teach people how to express their greatest potential and produce their greatest results. I awaken people to a greater understanding of their impact on others and how to best utilize this personal power. I focus on each individual's personal experience and help guide them, from a non-judgmental perspective, to a better understanding of themselves and their colleagues. Brief Personal Bio

People often ask me when I began coaching. I usually answer that it was sometime around Kindergarten. Helping people navigate and grow through their issues and challenges has always been apart of who I am. In retrospect, this has been my way of finding my way through my own issues and challenges. My greatest passion is to wake people up to their value and potential, watching them claim their power, become their best selves, do their best work, and live their best lives. I believe that we each have the full capacity to create the life we really want. 

For over 10 years as a Professional Certified Coach, I have had the honor of working with CEO's, entrepreneurs, engineers, physicians, artists, and more. I inspire each of my clients to know themselves deeply, accept themselves fully, become aware of their impact on others, experience their emotions honestly and appropriately, create healthy relationships, care for their health, and reach out of their comfort zones to claim the future they have only imagined. 
I hold my degree in Psychology from the University of California in Berkeley. I received my coach training and certification from CTI and I am a member of the International Coach Federation. Possibly my greatest training has come from having raised two fantastic sons and being married for over 26 years. I have worked in the worlds of fitness and health, real estate and politics. I have been, and continue to be an activist for issues of peace, homelessness and health. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors for The Peace Alliance, and on the committee for Pathstar, an organization devoted to improving the lives and health of Native Americans.
